SWITCHED ON

"The Duchess! The Duchess! Oh my dear paws! Oh my fur and whiskers! She'll get me executed, as sure as ferrets are ferrets!"

My anxiety over the Duchess' reaction to today's post (regular readers will know how easily shocked she is) will become rapidly clear; but it cannot be helped: this blog is dedicated to honest reporting and where one of my pet subjects - signage - is concerned, I have to report things as they are...

It was Rich who thoughtfully passed on this sign - if sign it is: it may just be intended as a piece of useful information...

And, on a related topic - here's the perfect addition to your bedroom decor.

The only trouble is that whilst, in Mediterranean countries (and possibly the USA), the lights go ON when a switch is switched UP, in the UK the reverse is usually the case. But, therein, perhaps, lies all you really need to know about British libido!

Two great signs Brian!! Though the belly-button appears a bit too high in the second?

That top sign is just priceless - the English are always funnier by accident than intent.AA great way to start the week ! (looking at the signs I meant)

ROB - Yes, odd that! You'd think that when one thing goes up, others would go down...

BOLL - Oh... You thought it was accidental...?

I am pleased to tell you that the Duchess is taking a brief holiday at a Stately Nursing Home for Bewildered Aristocrats and will therefore not see today's blog which would, indeed, have led to the application of sal volatile.

I found it amusing but am intrigued to know whether the Rich who supplied a most unlikely piece of signage could possibly be the Rich with whom I am very well acquainted!

GILL - Regarding the Duchess: that's a relief!

Regarding whether or not you are acquainted with (even related to) the source of the signage depicted in the blog: you might very well think that I couldn't possibly comment... ;-)

Interesting signs, though of course I don't quite understand why people seem to find them amusing.
And I could possibly comment that you should be chided over your insinuation that the libido of the British isn't up to much.
By the by, since the Duchess is away, it would seem serendipitous for a brief return to pants.

LISAH - When you say "isn't up to much..." did you mean, "isn't up TOO much"?! ;-)

As for your other suggestion: I'm not sure the Duchess is away long enough for me to risk anything along those lines...

You know, light switches over here on the continent go the same way as in England. What does that say about the famous French libido? Unless it's something to do with doing in the dark or not...

Put like that, of course...

Interestingly, a recent American Poll reveals that, in the US, it's the women (51% as opposed to 26% of men) who seem to prefer sex with the lights off...
