TAKE A SEAT

It's some years since local vandals demolished the benches in the shelter in Kennington Park. Since then it's had a paint-job (in a nasty, lurid - even bilious - green) but the seats have never been replaced --- leaving it, as a shelter, pretty useless.

Fortunately, some public-spirited citizen has addressed this need...

Now, if they can spare the sofa as well, that would be perfect!

And if said public-spirited person happens to leave another couple the local residents will rightly be saying 'Three Chairs! to him/her.
It's almost a shame the more artistic of the graffiti artists haven't redecorated the shelter and camoflaged some of the hideous colour.

Since Banksy was in Waterloo recently maybe someone should tell him about Kennington Park - it's not that far away...

We could do with something like that in my village (with the chair and sofa and why not a coffee table too)... give us somewhere to rehearse in the open air! It's not always easy to find places to rehearse these days.

BOLL - Excellent suggestion! I'll contact the new Mayor of London immediately! After all, there's going to be a lot of spare seats knocking about when all those bendy-buses finally get dumped...

SUZANNE- Welcome back! You've been missed! :-) Not sure about coffee tables, but Mayor Boris will probably have enough bus seats to sell you a couple as well... I suggest you e-mail City Hall without delay.

Yeah right. I can just see BoJo being concerned about a Belgian rural village!
By the way I love this new nickname - wasn't Friday evening hilarious? I'd never seen Paul Merton so lost for words!

Ha! I spewed my coffee while laughing so hard at at the suggestion that graphitti artists use their spray painting abilities to "pitch in" and help beautify this eyesore! That's somewhat akin to untying the Gordian knot-aye?

SUZANNE - "I can just see BoJo being concerned about a Belgian rural village!" Give him time!

BILL - True! The best option now would be army camouflage paint!
